The BBC and ITV are locked in a battle to get Girls Aloud on their biggest Saturday night shows.
Since Cheryl Cole signed for The X Factor, the race has been on to snap up the other girls.
The BBC have approached all four of the others - Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts - about starring on Strictly Come Dancing.
They wanted to team one of the girls up with ladies man Brendan Cole.
A Beeb source admitted: "We really hoped one of the girls would appear to try to make sure Cheryl didn't steal all of the limelight."
ITV, who already have Cheryl, have also been trying to get the girls to perform during the live stages of The X Factor and to give tips to the finalists.
X Factor begins on Saturday and Strictly Come Dancing starts next month.
