Quick, fetch the mistletoe boys

POUTING Cheryl Cole and her Girls Aloud pals are all set for kiss-mas — as they pose for their festive TV special.
Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts slink around in satin gowns to promote The Girls Aloud Party.
The ITV1 show — which will see them belt out their hits and collaborate with star guests — is previewed on tonight’s X Factor.

I was really surprised to see Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud wearing this sheer Alexander Wang Spring 2009 mini dress, when she performed at the Children In Need charity event for the BBC in London a few weeks ago.The reason I was surprised is because it is such a risqué dress for such an event, but the blonde singer did look great wearing it.I was also surprised that the group were able to get Spring samples from an American designer so soon after the shows. It just goes to show that Girls Aloud are on the up, and that they can command designers that A List stars can.

Girl's A-loaded

GIRLS Aloud beauty Sarah Harding is following bandmate Cheryl Cole into TV — this time as an actress in a drama about the credit crunch.
The high maintenance blonde has been cast in a new BBC film — playing a high maintenance blonde.
Sarah, 26, will play the beautician girlfriend of a loaded City financier in the timely Freefall. She has had acting lessons but will need her wits about her — the actors in the show have been told they will have to improvise.
Freefall is being written by filmmaker Dominic Savage, who has also lined up Lily Allen’s brother Alfie, 21, for a role.
Dom said: “This is a film essentially about greed that in many ways has got out of control.
“It is a film that reflects our obsession with wanting more, wanting everything, the desire in many of us to gain the world, but in doing so, potentially lose our souls.
“Freefall reflects those complexities, needs and conflicts that I believe exist in us all.”
Apart from those acting lessons, Sarah — no stranger to putting on a show — has featured in a couple of films.
Her CV includes last year’s remake of St Trinian’s alongside her Girls Aloud bandmates.
Sarah told TV Biz: “Dominic Savage’s films are all about improvisation, which is pretty challenging, but that’s also a big reason why I want to do the project.
“It’s so different to what I’m used to.
“It’s a bit nerve-wracking too not having all my girls with me. They’re really supportive though, and can’t wait to see the end result.”
Sarah’s bandmate Cheryl, 25, is already making waves in her first season on ITV1’s X Factor.
She has fallen out with fellow judge Dannii Minogue — and become the fans’ new favourite.

Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding reveals all about her terrifying car crash

Sarah Harding shouldn’t be Aloud out on our roads – especially after she spilled the beans to us about her recent terrifying car crash.
Fortunately the Girls Aloud star emerged unscathed following a head-on collision with a double-decker bus – aside from a banged bumper and a very dented ego, that is!
We caught up with the bubbly blonde at the Music Industry Trust Awards at London’s Grosvenor Hotel on Monday, when she told us the accident happened because events had been driving her to distraction.
Sarah said: “I had a nark on. I was moving house, we had the builders in and my mum was down to visit.
“I jumped into the Range Rover and because I’m only just getting used to the new roads around my house, drove up a one-way street.
“Unfortunately, there was a bus hurtling down the other way. It rammed my car into these bollards on the side of the road.
“My tyres burst, the alloys are trashed and everyone on the bus had to get off because it had totally blocked the road.

“It was awful – plus I was so embarrassed.
“Then, after that, I got a hire car out and someone bumped straight into me. So all in all I’d say it’s been the worst week of my life.
“I needed a drink tonight!”
No wonder Sarah, who looked fabulous in a purple silk frock, was tucking into the white wine and rose champagne at the star-studded Awards, where other guests included the Sugababes, Mika, Alesha Dixon, U2 and James Morrison.
Still, Girls Aloud – minus Nadine Coyle who was in LA – had plenty to celebrate. Their fifth album, Out Of Control, is at No.1.
Nicola Roberts was even seen dancing on a chair to Take That’s Rule The World. Cheryl Cole was the first to leave while Sarah braved it out till 2am, drinking in the nearby China Tang restaurant. A Girl after our own hearts…

Midweek No 1 Album

Pop looks set to vanquish indie once more at the top of the albums charts, with Girls Aloud’s Out Of Control (Fascination) taking a commanding lead ahead of Razorlight’s new album Slipway Fires (Vertigo).
The girl band’s new studio set has shifted almost 26,000 copies in its first day of release, while Slipway Fires sold nearer 17,000, putting it behind both Girls Aloud and Pink, whose Funhouse (LaFace) last Sunday topped the charts ahead of Snow Patrol’s A Hundred Million Suns (Fiction).
Greatest hits sets from Enrique Iglesias, Cliff Richard and Status Quo are also set for new entries within the top twenty, while Grace Jones’ comeback album Hurricane (Wall of Sound) should make the top forty.
On the singles chart, Hero by X Factor Finalists (Syco) is off to another very strong start, selling almost 73,000 copies yesterday, while new singles from Beyoncé (If I Were A Boy [RCA]) and Britney Spears (Womanizer [Jive]) are challenging for top five places, despite only being available digitally.
The full midweek charts are available from Musicweek.com.

The Music Industry Trust Awards

Itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny dresses were the order of the day as Girls Aloud added some va-va-voom to the Music Industry Awards last night. The bandmates, minus LA-based Nadine Coyle, all looked ultra-glamorous, with Nicola Roberts sticking to her fake tan ban and glowing in a peach mini with a Chanel belt. Sarah Harding opted for a daringly short, violet number, while Cheryl Cole wowed in a grey shift dress with an eye-catching red waist belt. Kimberly Walsh, meanwhile, was the only Girl Aloud to choose a knee-length number, and looked pretty in her draped LBD with leopard-print heels.Cheryl Cole's fellow X Factor judges Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell also rocked up to the bash, and Simon was in high spirits despite a recent split with girlfriend Terri Seymours – who is now rumoured to be dating Stephen Dorff.Cowell joked: 'No one wants me,' before saying he and his ex would remain friends. 'Everything is fine between me and Terri.'Other celebrities who attended the bash, which raised £350,000 for charity, included Sugababes, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and 60th birthday girl, Lulu, who were all treated to performances by Take That, Razorlight, Snow Patrol and Mika.Meanwhile, guests of honour U2 presented an award to Universal Records boss Lucian Grainge for services to music.

Girls Aloud: Out Of Control

Six years, five albums and 19 Top Ten hits: Girls Aloud are a pop-wannabe's dream.
Certainly, for a product of the reality TV machine, the group continue to defy critics with ever-catchier songs and a longevity that's down to more than just attention from the red tops.
Success is, in part, thanks to the services of Brian Higgins's Xenomania production company, which is all over the Girls' latest outing like a rash.
A checklist of pop genres have been systematically ticked off here: if you think that's an exaggeration, listen to dancehall-style Revolution In The Head, complete with Nadine Coyle's superbly embarrassing bashment chat.
Elsewhere, you get club-floor dance, 1980s electro (particularly on the Pet Shop Boys collaboration, The Loving Kind), the 1960s vibe of their current single, The Promise, and drum'n'bass beats.
This soundclash may be nothing new but here it feels as though the goal may be real music rather than stick-in-your-head chart-busters.
A litter of sure-fire singles have, of course, been included but there's a tentative move away from crowd-pleasing hits that, though not entirely convincing, might coax the cynics down off their musical high horses.

GIRLS Aloud singer Sarah Harding fancies being an EastEnders star.
The blonde bombshell told me: “I think I could easily play a right feisty cow.
"It would be great if she was a faded pop star too.”

Sarah's hot for a switch

Sexy Sarah Harding wants to move to Spain as she's fed up with our freezing winters. The GIRLS ALOUD babe, 26, has already bought a pad in the country after deciding she was fed up of the hectic London lifestyle. But now she has told pals she wants to quit England altogether and live it up on the Costa Del Sol. Our source said: "Sarah is well known as a party animal but she has is bored with the London scene. "She has been to Marbella before and loves it over there so she's decided to look for a house. "Obviously she'll be back in the UK for work but she loves the idea of living somewhere that is not only warmer but also has cheaper booze!"
